DALLAS DYNASTY…

Saturday morning D’Andra Simmons opened up about her life and RHOD on air with Michael Molthan. I tuned into 1190 AM while getting dressed to head over to Highland Park Village for some Dallas style shopping. It was so great to learn more about this fabulous lady, and her honesty on air left me emotional and inspired by her story. If you didn’t listen here is a summary of what took place…

LIVE FROM THE STUDIO…

D’Andra started off the interview telling the emotional story of her biological fathers suicide. The day after returning from the honeymoon of her first marriage D’Andra received a phone call from her father intoxicated around 10pm in the evening. At the time she was unaware this would be the last time she would hear from him. She states she was aware of her fathers depression, and felt he was holding on for her to get married and have a husband to take care of his little girl. Around 2:30 am the phone rings waking D’Andra with the news of her fathers suicide. Stating she knew phone calls in the middle of the night are never good, she got dressed jumped in the car and took off towards Austin, Texas.

Upon arrival, crime scene investigators were still at the residence finalizing the incident. Like the lady boss she is, D’Andra went immediately into super woman mode planning the funeral on top of her husbands birthday celebration. Her ability to compartmentalize her emotions in such a tragic moment shows you how strong and beautiful this woman truly is. The death of her father opened up her eyes to the world of mental illness, and states she shares compassion for any person or family members that are affected by suicide.

BECOMING A HOUSEWIFE…

Starting the conversation off D’Andra gives us some back story into the world of RHOD and how she became the outspoken lady we all love. Initially D’Andra was approached by producers during the casting of season 1. With her social status in the charity world, and many business ventures she respectfully declined season 1. One thing Bravo is good at, is presistance. When casting for season 2 began Bravo reached back out to D’Andra about joining. Her friendship with the ladies, and growing empire meant D’Andra was destine to join RHOD. Leaving it into the hands of god, she signed on for season 2 and the rest is history.

D’Andra states the platform is great for business and her rapidly expanding empire. The show would also shine a light on the artwork of her sexy husband, Jeremy Lock. While Hard Night Good Morning continues to be a top seller, D’Andra recently launched a new business venture called “D’Andra Simmons Home”. Going further in depth with Michael she states that D’Andra Simmons is more than just a name. it’s a Brand.

SPLLIN THE TEA ON SEASON 3..

Finally, the moment we all been waiting for, D’Andra Spills talks season 3! Teasing us, D’Andra goes on to say that this year will be a rough year for her with lots of ups an downs and shifts in relationships. Sharing her story like never before, D’Andra admits to putting all of her life moments out there this season, hoping it may be able to help someone who is watching. With alliances shifting this season, D’Andra states she holds the ladies accountable for there actions whether they like it, or not. Stress and mistakes aside I disagree with D’Andra, I believe she will remain the “classy” one this season. Life can be a bitch, but it takes a strong powerful woman to own your faults, and THAT is classy. Closing out the conversation D’Andra leaves us with this statement “At the end of the whole process I think people will understand me a little bit better and the reason I am the way I am in life, and why I am so passionate about things in my life”. Well said D’Andra, I look forward to watching her journey continue season 3.

FEAR…

Much like myself D’Andra gets deemed cold and emotionless by other people. This season she opened up while cameras rolled showing her vulnerable side. D’Andra admits to Michael toward the end of the interview that being vulnerable “scares the you know what outta me”. Season 3 will be a show stopper and I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!

I CAN RELATE…

Listening to this interview for me was almost like looking into the mirror. I relate to D’Andra on so many levels. I work in EMS, if you know anything about it then you would know that the suicide rates of first responders are outrageous. Battling my own demons inside, I’ve learned to channel my sadness to help others. The best statement to describe a day in the life of a first responder is “The only way to stop my own pain, was learning how to stop somebody else’s”.  I commend D’Andra for everything she is doing to raise money and bring awareness to suicide prevention. Aside from suicide awareness I relate to her struggle of Being vulnerable. It is the most difficult thing someone could ask me to do. Growing up in the south, vulnerability is looked at as weakness. It is easier to keep people at a distance, than suffer the pain of heart break from other people.

Beauty is the opposite of perfection, it’s confidence, strength, and character. Regardless of what is to come this season, D’Andra embodies all characteristics of what it means to be beautiful. So get ready! get set! D’Andra’s Dynasty is stronger than ever..
